Randy Strait
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Strait is Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Center for Climate Strategies (CCS). He is responsible for managing all GHG emissions inventory and forecast work. In addition, Mr. Strait provides coordination assistance to states in developing climate actions plans, and provides technical expertise on the quantification of GHG emission reductions and costs/cost savings associated with GHG mitigation policies. He also provides facilitation and coordination assistance to technical work groups to evaluate GHG emissions reporting, registry, and public outreach policies.
Mr. Strait is currently the program manager for a $1.2 million dollar subcontract with UT Battelle, LLC, and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory to provide technical expertise support on financial mechanisms to local community and U.S. state recipients of federal funds to support implementation of energy efficiency programs for the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Strait managed projects to support the six Mexican Border States in developing GHG inventory and forecasts (I&Fs) using state-specific data (to the extent available), and following the Instituto Nacional de Ecología (INE), U.S. EPA, and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) guidelines and practices. Mr. Strait has provided coordination assistance to many U.S. states in developing GHG I&Fs and climate actions plans, and provided technical expertise on the quantification of GHG emission reductions and costs/cost savings associated with GHG mitigation policies.
Mr. Strait has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management (with an emphasis in natural resources policy, economics, and forestry) from Duke University and a B.A. in biology from Northland College.
