On October 13, 2015 The Center for Climate Strategies (CCS), the Global Environmental Institute (GEI), and Shanxi Province Research Center on Eco-Environmental Science (SPRCES) entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Low Carbon Development (LCD) for the Pilot city of Yangquan in the Shanxi Province.

In September, the Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) trained Professors at the Universidad del Valle in Guatemala City on LEDS Policy Design and Analysis. Policy Insight on EPA’s Clean Power Plan

On August 3, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the final rule for the Clean Power Plan (CPP), after receiving more than 4 million comments from state officials, industry, consumer groups and environmentalists over the span of a year. The new goals announced will require shifts in many states toward lower levels of electricity demand and higher levels of clean energy supplies, such as renewable energy. In some states this may involve shifts toward higher energy prices, at least in the short term, while in others prices may immediately fall and continue to deepen over time.

CCS Completes Baja California, Mexico Climate Action Plan

On December 19, 2014, CCS and its partners completed the Baja California Mexico, State Climate Action Plan and submitted a final report to the Secretaria de Proteccion al Ambiente (SPA), Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC), and the Mexico Low Emissions Development (MLEDS) Program. The project was funded by the US Agency for International Development [(USAID) through the MLEDS Program in cooperation with the Border Environment Cooperation Commission (BECC).
