Climate and Economic Development Project of Southern California Shows Integrated Transit-Land Use Provides Major Energy Cuts and Job Gains

In 2011, CCS began assisting the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and local government and economic partners (including the Los Angeles Economic Development Commission) with the development of goals and specific program response actions to enable the region to comply with SB 375, California’s new climate transportation law. SB 375 is the first state law to require mandated reductions in vehicle miles travelled (VMT) as a means for reducing carbon emissions, and it attracted substantial support and concern from the economic community.
