CCS Ready to Expand Paris Agreement Implementation

The Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) stands ready to help government leaders and stakeholders in the US and other nations expand their efforts to implement the Paris Climate Change Agreement. Our approach develops collaborative actions in all sectors and levels of government to meet critical priorities for economic development, energy access, and resilience in addition to climate stabilization.

Since 2004, CCS has provided leadership support, training, facilitation, technical assistance, and implementation support in key countries and regions to dozens of nations, states, provinces, cities, metropolitan areas, and technical institutions and thousands of stakeholders for high impact policy actions. The outcomes of these projects are driven by shared goals and high levels of public private collaboration and expertise. They repeatedly demonstrate the potential for nongovernmental stakeholders and governmental representatives to reach agreements on implementable solutions that meet vital economic, energy, and resilience goals in a fair and equitable manner.

The sustained progress by the US on carbon reductions in the last decade is consistent with the foundational approaches and results of these policy development initiatives and mirrors global trends toward the integration of energy, economic, and environmental security. The Paris Agreement is based on a similar paradigm, and provides a constructive strategic framework that enables all nations to find high value, low conflict, low footprint approaches to energy and natural resources by becoming more efficient in their use and shifting to more sustainable supplies, such as renewable sources.

Today, virtually all nations are engaged in further development and implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) along with a wide range of states, provinces, cities, private businesses, and other organizations who share national goals and make important contributions to their success. CCS is actively involved in supporting these efforts in a manner that unlocks the willpower and ambition needed to meet Paris Agreement goals and longer term climate stabilization needs and national vision for economic and social progress. In the US, programs that contribute to the success of other nations on the Paris Agreement level the playing field of emissions reduction commitments, provide a cooperative platform for trade and investment, and reduce resource based security conflicts.
