Conference of Stakeholders Maps Policy and Investment Plans

Kyiv, Ukraine. On September 26, 2017, the Ukraine Ministry of Ecology, members of Ukraine’s Parliament, and USAID leadership, with CCS assistance, announced expert work group recommendations for implementation of 30 new policy actions designed to achieve economic, energy, and environmental security in all sectors of Ukraine’s Economy at the national and local levels. Over 100 members of the stakeholder advisory group of the Enhancing Capacities for Low Emissions Development Strategies (EC LEDS) process of the USAID Municipal Energy Project (MERP) participated in the policy development process.

In addition to supporting work group formation and policy priority setting, CCS provided a framework and tools for creating detailed business implementation models and public private financing programs for each of the policy recommendations. The project is expected to issue a final report by the end of 2017 and transition to collaboration on investment mobilization and new governance mechanisms for implementation. In January 2017, CCS led a high-level Study Tour which brought Ukrainian officials to New York, Connecticut, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC to review US actions and exchange perspectives on future challenges.
