CCS and Maryland Department of Environment Launch Transportation Strategies Work Group with Economic Development, Bay Focus

Maryland

As an outgrowth of the Maryland Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act of 2008 (GRRA), the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) launched a Transportation and Land Use Strategies Work Group to identify new actions to spur economic growth, save energy, and integrate Chesapeake Bay protection efforts with energy and transportation programs. CCS previously assisted MDE with facilitation and analysis of the Maryland Climate Action plan, and CCS is providing similar assistance to the new transportation initiative. In addition to supporting new economic collaboration in Maryland with local and private stakeholders, the initiative supports regional development of actions through the Regional Transportation Climate Initiative. The second stakeholder meeting of the initiative was held December 14, 2011, in Baltimore, Maryland to review existing and planned actions in Maryland as well as potential new actions.
