CCS Presents Green Growth Report at UNEP Workshop

On July 2, 2014, Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) President and CEO Tom Peterson participated in a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) workshop titled "Bridging the Implementation Gap for Rio+20 Workshop and Open Side Event to the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development" at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Tom presented findings from the "Planning and Coordination" chapter he co-authored in the recently released "Green Growth in Practice: Lessons from Country Experiences" and moderated the "Access and Clean Energy Services - Country Success Stories and Lessons Learned with an emphasis on multi-benefit approaches" session.  Representatives from Ghana, Kenya, the Ivory Coast, and Mexico presented successful approaches and lessons learned from clean energy initiatives in their respective countries before representatives from Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and North America.

The workshop addressed the overall theme of "How can green economy approaches help reduce poverty, inequality, and vulnerabilities while ensuring environmental sustainability?" with emphasis on the multi-benefit opportunities across the energy, food, and water nexus.
