CCS and GEI Co-Host an UNFCCC COP20 Side Event on the "Insight of China’s Low Carbon Development Strategies"

Please join the Center for Climate Strategies (CCS) and Global Environmental Institute (GEI) on Thursday, December 11th for an official side event of the UNFCCC COP 20 international climate negotiations in Lima, Peru.

The event, "International Insight on China & Supporting Chinese Subnational Governments Achieve Carbon Targets," will provide an overview of past progress and future plans for Low Carbon Development Planning and Analysis in China’s provinces and major cities including detailed case studies of China’s low carbon green growth strategies.

The Presidents of CCS and GEI, Mr. Tom Peterson and Ms. Jiaman Jin, will showcase the GEI-CCS EcoPartnership, and its process, actions and achievements on subnational low carbon development planning in China, including the Chinese Low Carbon Development (LCD) Planning toolkit, the Chongqing LCD Pilot results, as well as the targets and goals for curriculum development and capacity building of the LCD planning toolkit in China.

Additional speakers include Director General Li Haiyan from National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Director General Wang Yi from the Chinese Academy of Sciences-Institute of Policy Management (CAS-IPM), and Professor Zhang Zhongxiang from Fudan University.

The discussion will highlight development of China-US cooperative mechanisms on climate change and LCD approaches in all economic sectors and their potential use in achieving new climate change goals in China at the national and subnational levels.
